Have You Lost Your Mojo?

In my role as a Profit Coach, a subject I'm constantly talking, training and writing about is Leadership.  For a business to be successful, it must have a successful and effective leader at the helm. It all starts at the top!

On occasion, I work with businesses with huge potential but have something holding them back- an owner or leader who is suffering from a lack of motivation. They appear to have lost their mojo!

As defined in Wikipedia Mojo is “an ability or quality that causes one to excel or have good luck.” In business, I believe there is no such thing as good luck. I believe you make your own luck and if you are good at what you do and motivated to succeed, you will find your share of luck.

Business owners generally have a high level of motivation and “mojo” when they start their business, but for many varied reasons, it can unfortunately disappear over time. At this point you need to reinvent yourself. The question is, how do you do that?

The following are a few of the key factors that I believe contribute to unlocking your invaluable “mojo.”

An ability to see an opportunity. Most people who start or buy a business saw an opportunity and this provided a high level of motivation. However a number of years down the track, is that opportunity still there or has it changed?

Clear business purpose. When people start in business they have a clear business purpose. Likewise people with “mojo” know what and why they do what they do. As time goes on one must ask, does that purpose still hold true, is it still relevant?

Do you have a clear business purpose for your business?

Vision. Successful leaders need to have a clear vision on what their future will look like and this must start with a personal vision for you and your family (your life plan). This will then determine what the business must be able to provide for you to achieve your personal vision. You must then establish your business vision-how will the business look sometime in the future and what will be its purpose. Successful leaders always have a very clear vision of what they are trying to create.

Do you have a clear vision for your life and your business?

Passion. We know that a common trait of successful business leaders is they are incredibly passionate about what they do. Passion in not a skill, it is a characteristic which I believe comes from having a clear purpose and vision. It motivates leaders to achieve great things and get up in the morning with a bounce in their step.

Are you still passionate about what you do?

Is it “mojo” that provides motivation or maybe it’s the other way round. Either way you need both to succeed. If you feel you have lost your mojo, you need to reconsider and reestablish your opportunities, your business purpose and your vision.

The good news is I can show you how to reinvent yourself, reignite your passion and find your “mojo”. Simply call me.
